East Cleveland Online

Two new projects have just begun which will see community media content generated on this and associated sites. The projects are “Digital Discovery” which is a Digital City project and “East Cleveland Community ICT”. In fact both projects focus on East Cleveland and in particular the Rural Communities of East Cleveland. A new website is just starting at www.eastcleveland.org.uk

Loftus Town Crier Goes Digital

After 20 sucessful years as a paper based publication, Loftus Town Crier has finaly gone online with issue 104. At www.loftustowncrier.co.uk you’ll find the latest edition on the News page. Over the past 20 years each issue has featured a wonderful pencil drawing by founder Maurice Toulson. You can find three examples of his work in the “Training Area” where the members of the editorial team learned to upload images and edit the site. The team is basing their digital activities in Loftus Library from where they will bring us future issues of the Town Crier as well as back issues once they are digitized.

Enrollment at Brotton Village Hall

The community turned out en masse for the multi media presentation and enrollment today. Many expressed interest in digital images, animation,

web 2 workshop and they ALL signed up for First Time Online which starts in two weeks time on Mondays and Tuesdays. Contact Ted McNicholls Tel: 01287 678024.

During the presentation everyone took a turn at recording their voices into open source audio software “Audacity”. There was a moment of surprise and amusement when the entire front two rows turned out to be related to each other !

Tommy And Barry go to Cumbria

Tommy Evans and Barry Hunt have been invited by the Environment Agency to tell the Skinningrove story in Cumbria. Pictured right working on their powerpoint presentation, Tommy and Barry will tell a story of community spirit combined with all the extra resources Skinningrove could muster. These include external agencies and organisations as well as utilising ICT to help fight back from the devastating flooding.

The presentation includes the Skinningrove film “Fire and Water”, Tommy and Barry on Skinningroves Internet Radio station and the infamous Tommy’s Plight” animation.
